Yi Braces for Defense of Title

“Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!”

Last year’s heavyweight final was not that epic, but the Bengal Bouts thriller between Mike Broghammer and Daniel Yi may have rivaled the 1973 bout between Foreman and Frazier in excitement.

Recall Rocky IV and the showdown between Drago and Rocky as the 6’9”, 245 pound Broghammer towered over the technically-sound Yi by seven inches. Yi punished Broghammer very early with two right hooks to the face, and Broghammer stayed on the floor of the ring and could not regain his balance.

Notre Dame Football Predictions, Continued

In the last edition of the Rover, Sports Editor Rich Hidy and Politics & Economics Editor Tim Bradley took stabs at predicting Notre Dame’s season record. Sitting on a 3-1 record after a narrow escape over Michigan State, the Irish now look ahead to battling Oklahoma on Saturday in South Bend. Remember, both Hidy and Bradley have picked Notre Dame to beat the Sooners before dropping their second game to the Sun Devils in early October.

Irish Cross Country Teams Determined to Make National Impact

With abundant leadership and experience coupled with upcoming young talent, Notre Dame’s men’s and women’s cross country teams are shaping up to turn some heads this fall on the cross country course.

After last year’s disappointing 28th place finish at the NCAA Championships on the men’s side, due in part to an onslaught of mid-season injuries, Coach Joe Piane’s squad is looking to improve dramatically this year. After having lost only one senior NCAA participant, these guys are anxious to show their true colors against the rest of the country in Terre Haute this November. Fifth-year captains Jeremy Rae and JP Malette return to lead the group this fall.
