Dear friends,
This academic year has seen a great deal of growth on the part of the Irish Rover.
We have introduced significant renovations into our publication style and layout, expanded our online presence greatly, been referenced widely by extra-campus sources and outlets, and seen our stable of staff writers and editors grow steadily since August.
Of course, none of our growth is possible without the generous support of our readers and followers. And so, in a gesture of gratitude, we at the Rover would like to give back to those who make our work in defense of Notre Dame’s Catholic identity possible.
To that end, we’ve decided to inaugurate the Irish Rover Free Reads lottery.
I’ve borrowed this idea from Andrew Haines over at Ethika Politika, and am excited to implement this simple give-away within the Rover community.
How does it work?
Very easily. All you need to do is, first, leave a comment on this post here on our website (it can be as simple as leaving your name!); and second, leave a comment on our Facebook page on the post that corresponds to this article as well.
If you do both of those things, your name will be entered into a randomly-generated raffle. Each Friday afternoon, we’ll upload a post featuring the Free Read book of the week. By the following Friday, one lucky winner will have a brand new copy of that book mailed to her address of choice—at no charge to the recipient!
So, you take 30 seconds to make a few clicks, and in return, make yourself eligible to receive a brand new copy of whatever fine piece of literature the Rover staff decides to raffle that week.
Our inaugural free read is Evelyn Waugh’s classic and acclaimed 1945 work of fiction, Brideshead Revisited. A staff favorite, Brideshead remains one of the most popular Catholic works of fiction written in the English language.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to win our first Free Read!
Thank you, as always, for your readership and support of the Irish Rover. We would not put the effort and time into our work were it not for your investment in our mission.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend,
Michael Bradley
